Dec 16 24 Frames RECAP!

On December 16th, the walls of 1110 Dundas Street West echoed with laughter, gasps, and applause as we hosted ’24 Frames,’ a captivating evening featuring a lineup of local short films. The atmosphere was buzzing with anticipation as the doors opened at 7 pm, welcoming an eager audience ready to delve into the diverse narratives unfolding on the screen.

As the clock struck 8 pm, the screening commenced, presenting a curated selection of six compelling short films that showcased the talent and creativity of our local filmmakers. Each film brought its unique flavor to the table, offering glimpses into the complexities of human relationships, the exploration of emotions, and the silent struggles within immigrant communities.

Noah Nicholson’s “Little” set the tone for the night, exploring the challenges faced by 10-year-old Alex in his quest for recognition from his older brother. Jomilee Direk’s “Kilig” took us on a journey of connection through recollection and fantasy, while Benjamin Del Vasto’s “Sour Love” delved into the fragile dynamics of a relationship on the brink.

Queena Liu’s “Uproot” bravely tackled mental health care in immigrant communities, sharing a personal narrative that resonated with many. Celina Liu’s “Metropolis” transported us to the enigmatic streets of a city, unraveling secrets that probed the subconscious. Warren Kang’s “Waves (in process)” wrapped up the evening with a visual poem, capturing the nuanced emotions tied to one’s complex relationship with home.

Following the screening, the filmmakers graciously participated in a Q&A session, offering insights into their creative processes and inspirations. The interaction between the audience and filmmakers fostered a sense of community, turning the event into more than just a film screening—it became a shared experience of storytelling and connection.

As the night unfolded, we were reminded of the power of local storytelling and the richness of narratives within our community. ’24 Frames’ wasn’t just about films; it was about bringing people together, supporting local talent, and creating a space for shared appreciation of the cinematic arts.

To everyone who joined us for ’24 Frames,’ thank you for being a part of this magical night. Stay tuned for more events as we continue to celebrate and uplift the vibrant voices of our local filmmakers. 🎬✨ #24FramesRecap #LocalFilmMagic #CommunityCinema
